Australian jazz played with fire, melody and passion.

Led by multi-reed player, Adam Simmons on alto sax, this trio, along with bassist Howard Cairns and drummer Anthony Baker, is another facet of Simmons’ music, which includes his solo project, quartet, and the renowned Adam Simmons Toy Band. Presenting new material, with a few unusual covers, this trio sees Adam focusing solely on alto saxophone, working within self-imposed limitations in order to more fully explore the possibilities – similar to the Japanese art of folding paper, working from a simple starting point with a square piece of paper to create pieces of great complexity and beauty.

Origami first gigs were at last year’s Village Festival and so it is with delight that they return, having just launched their CD, “The Blues of Joy.” As an added treat, they will be joined by French bass clarinettist, Denis Colin, appearing fresh from the Wangaratta Jazz Festival.
