WHERE WE HAVE BEEN

Falls Festival
29, 30, 31 December 2007
Our third year in Lorne, second year in Marion Bay.
The specially built site in Lorne is really starting to look a treat and is increasingly being discovered as THE spot to be for breakfast and late at night. Lorne highlights include Steve Irwin VS The Stingray, Suitcase Royale’s 60 second dance parties and the Village debut of Bogan Bingo.
Marion Bay highlights include Cecil Brown’s Ego Massage, the debut of Pimp Your Camp (a workshop where our artists helped folks create personalised decorations for their camps) and secret gigs by The Waifs and Adam Hills.

Edinburgh Gardens 2007
November 7 to 11.
Our second year in the gardens that we love so much.
Highlights include the introduction of the Swap Shop and a daily Village newspaper The Fly (both bound to become future fixtures), Burp Gun’s Complete Mad Max trilogy (ha!), The Shitt Family hosted a couple of aristocratic relatives… and we discovered the glorious 9 piece New Orleans jazz brass band Cycling Katrina. Big crowds, beautiful weather, a fab collection of artists.

5 - 6 May, 2007
Hall's Gap, Grampians, Victoria
The Village was part of Beyond The Smoke Festival, at the Grampian’s Grape Escape.
Hot short shows from Melbourne rubbed shoulders with great stuff from around
the Grampians. All in the lovely theatre tents of The Village. Music,
theatre, films, games and general tomfoolery.

22 - 26 November 2006
Edinburgh Gardens, North Fitzroy, Melbourne.
Edinburgh Gardens! Surely it was designed for us.
Melbourne's finest performing artists became resident in this beautiful park,
basking in the late spring warmth, under the shade of the famous rotunda.
Punters enjoyed a glass of wine and choose between the latest glory from Caravan Of Love,
Penny Machinations, Short Attention Span and Birdman. Dance to Croque Monsieur and The Wikkimen.
Take in delights of the Dog Show
(featuring Dog Fashions, Who’s a Good Dog Then? and dog Tug Of War with soft toy…)
or just sat in the shade and wondered at the delightful humans and what they can do.
Brought to you with the generous assistance of the City Of Yarra, Arts Victoria, Crumpler and the Falls Festival.

30 - 31 December - 1 January 2007
The Falls, Lorne, Victoria

Once again The Village played both venues of the best music festival in Oz.
Bringing with it a collection of cool stuff and inspired madness.

1 - 4 April, 2005
May Park, Horsham, Victoria

Serious fun in the Wimmera. Presented as part of the famous Art Is… festival. This inaugural Village featured top stuff from Melbourne cheek by jowl with Wimmera's Finest. From Footy to gypsy punk, puppets with no clothes on to sack races for the kids… Held in May Park, the sweetest little park in Victoria. A blissful weekend. Sigh…

1 - 4 December , 2005
Railway reserve, Footscray, Melbourne

Presented in conjunction with Big West Festival.
The Village took over a completely busted park next to Footscray station and converted into a wonderland. (We mowed its metre long grass by hand!) Dozens of great shows, thousands of happy punters. From Snuff Puppets to Vietnamese street punks. A massive Silent Walk, Suitcase Royale's new one, Men Of Steel resident in The Inflatable, Jesus Crisis in The Moroccan Tent. And the best African bands in Oz. We also brought with us the best collection of weather ever assembled for a festival in Australia: Wet and cold; wet and warm; dry and windy; dry and still; really windy; warm and windy; and the rarely seen hot and really, really, really windy (we had to close down…) - view pictures + shows

29 - 31 December 2005
The Falls, Lorne, Victoria.

The Village materialised in a corner of the rainforest on the site of The Falls. We caught the eye of 14 thousand delirious music fans and surfed the wave of blissed out humanity through to the new year. Serious Fun for grown ups.
