What is Floriade Fringe?
A. A utopian carnival in an iconic but underused central parkland location.

The Floriade Fringe is a celebration of Canberra: expect music, theatre, dance, food, circus, sculpture, story-telling, puppetry, live art, installations and anything in between.

Prowling the Australian scene, Western Sydney artist L-FRESH The LION is renowned for his powerful presence, inspiring live shows and thought-provoking lyricism.

Australian Dance Party are Floriade Fringe’s artists in residence, led by Alison Plevey. Their new work has been commissioned for Floriade Fringe: SEAMLESS is about the unsustainable addiction of the fashion industry.

What to Expect at Floriade Fringe
This is a high energy party stage featuring Canberra’s quirkiest and liveliest bands, as well as a selection of top-notch interstate bands and a host of surprises. Some you’ll know, some you’ll discover and some will be hard to forget.
L-Fresh the Lion, Burnt Sausages, Thunder Fox, Los Chavos, Endrey, Brass Knuckle Brass Band, Moaning Lisa, The Ugly Bunyip Band, Dead DJ Joke, Ample Sample, Mr Tim, Ben Drysdale, Dr Stovepipe
Circus, comedy, theatre and performance art. On Saturday afternoon there will be family fun, but at night it becomes decidedly more adult.
Nomad the Magician, A KREWD Embrace, Guyy, Ruth O’Brien, So You Think You Can Interpretive Dance
An intimate venue, the Kiss Club hosts cabaret, interactive theatre, freak shows, dance-offs, experimental magicians, and yarn-spinning. The Kiss Club Nightery features the Sound and Fury Ensemble with a superb roster of guests. Also Anya Anastasia, Andrew Galan, Disney Choir, Kindergarten Simulator
WonderWorld is an interactive theme park in which people can play games specially designed by artists who also act as performative hosts.
Gerkhin Khan’s Amusement Alcazar, Complimentary Caravan, Set Yourself Free (Private Dancer), 10 Minute Dance Parties
The imaginary love child of Nigella and the Swedish chef, The World Kitchen is a food performance venue that hosts food demonstrations from the serious to the spurious. Mikelangelo, Dr Graham’s Blow up Science Show, Monica Moore, Cris Clucas, Mr Tim and The Food Detective

The Floriade Fringe bar is brought to you by Braddon’s favourite brewers Bent Spoke.
A variety of local food vendors will be serving tasty treats including the resident Mandalay Bus. Or pop out to Braddon.

Getting There, Parking
We know that Braddon is not the easiest place to find a park. Good luck with that. We are bicycle friendly; it is good for body and soul. Or catch a bus and walk from Civic.

Floriade Fringe is entirely on the level… but it is grass and there will be the odd bump to navigate. Accessible toilet on site.

The Village is Australia’s travelling arts festival. The Village engenders creativity, community and curiosity by delivering festivals that reflect and celebrate the communities it visits.The Village has its origins in Canberra’s legendary Splinters Theatre of the 1990s, and has presented 45 festivals over the last 12 years, including as part of the Falls Festival.
