[dropcap style=’1′]T[/dropcap]he Village are bringing our highly accessible outburst of music, performance, visual arts, fashion, dance, film and all manner of unclassifiable unmentionables, all gathered within that lovely collection of handmade theatres, tents and installations to the beautiful, leafy Glebe Park
The Village is a Centenary of Canberra project, the program features an eclectic mix of local and interstate artists, undertaking works of theatre, cabaret, puppetry, circus, spoken word, sideshow and a range of workshops, games and participatory works (including the Villages legendary So You Think You Can Interperative Dance Competition).
On Thursday the 21st The Village will be host to the Own Grown Market Day. This wonderful event will feature produce grown in the market gardens of Canberra schools.
The Village will have great food, drinks and coffee. Dancing every night and fabulous stuff for children on the weekend days.
A major highlight of the program is a new work by the 1990s Canberra theatre collective Splinters. The work, titled Babylon, will be performed by the disparate Splinters alumni each evening
The Go for 2&5® World Kitchen will be open throughout the four days, featuring cooking demonstrations, food workshops, local produce and cooks. It will culminate at 1pm on Sunday afternoon with an Iron Chef competition. The Go for 2&5® World Kitchen has been proudly supported by the ACT Government, under the ACT Health Promotion Grants Program.
Entry into The Village is free, shows dirt cheap, music gratis and food, drinks and coffee available throughout the four days. There’s dancing every night and plenty for the kids on the weekend.
