[dropcap style=’1′]A[/dropcap]rtistic Directors Pidd, Kalk & Vaskess have pulled together an eccentric and feisty program of comedy, theatre, music and visual arts for this Year’s Village Festival in Edinburgh Gardens. Every night the park will vibrate joyfully to a chaotically curated selection of theatre, sideshow, film, circus, music and workshops. All placed within easy reach of nice drinks, good food and great coffee.
Shows include Nick Barlow’s life sized video game NUKU’s Game, Burp Guns ridiculous recreation of The Complete Mad Max Trilogy (told in 30 minutes), Barking Spider’s installation Tree of Lost Things, there will be new works by Josh Ladgrove, and a whole host of hands of fun stuff for all ages.
Back by popular demand The Famous Village Dog Show & The So you think you can interpretive dance competition (both held on Saturday afternoon), and the Melbourne underground musicians showcase with Balkan Jazz ensemble Baba Yaga Orkestar, Deep Vein Trombosis and The Brass Knuckle Brass Band and much much more…
New to this years Village is The Art Pumping Action pedal powered activities, with sculptural bike generator made with Yarra Youth Service and Magnificent Revolution Australia. Funded by Vichealth’s Motion program to get people moving though art, These sculptures will power up the dance floor for DJ Lovely Clearwater’s 10 minute dance parties.
This Village will also see previews of fine, performance art of dining with a whole weekend of demonstrations at The Village World Kitchen – keep an eye out for the Iron Chef Competition on Sunday afternoon.
